In a significant operation against drug trafficking, excise officers in Kochi seized over 110 grams of MDMA from a studio apartment in Cheranelloor on Friday morning. The raid, conducted based on confidential information, targeted a first-floor unit in an apartment complex.
Details of the Seizure
Officers confiscated 110.73 grams of MDMA, more than Rs 1 lakh in cash, and a car used for transporting the contraband. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure. The arrested persons have been identified as Larry John Thattil, 36, from Ollur; Ivin P Vincent, 26, from Mukundapuram in Thrissur; and Nikhil Peter, 31, from Kadamakudy. A fourth suspect, Muhammed Niyas, managed to escape from the apartment, according to sources.
Investigation Team
The raid was led by excise inspector Abhiraj R. Other officers involved in the investigation included Raseena V B, Amaldev, Padmagireeshan, Ashkar Sabu, and Vishnu Kumar. The team acted swiftly on the tip-off, leading to the successful bust.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the illegal drug trade in the region. Further investigations are underway to trace the network and apprehend the absconding accused.
