Ahmedabad: Computer and IT engineering branches emerged as the top earners for students during the recently concluded placements at LD College of Engineering (LDCE), one of Gujarat's premier government-run institutes. The highest package of Rs 25.9 lakh was offered to a student from the IT engineering stream, officials said. For computer engineering, the top offer stood at Rs 17 lakh.
By number of offers, mechanical engineering topped the list with 136 offers, followed by computer engineering with 126, and electrical engineering with 107. Chemical engineering students secured offers up to Rs 12.4 lakh, while electronics and communication recorded packages up to Rs 14 lakh, said a senior LDCE official associated with placements.
Among major recruiters, HackerRank made the highest offer, with Futures First and Cadence Design Systems also featuring prominently. Other key recruiters included Micron, Hindustan Unilever, TCS, Aditya Birla Group, and IBM, the official added.
LDCE officials said this is the second consecutive year that more than 1,000 job offers have been made to participating students across disciplines. In the ongoing academic year, 227 reputed companies from India and abroad visited the campus to hire engineering graduates. The highest package reached Rs 25.9 lakh per annum, and nearly 20% of the offers were valued at over Rs 7 lakh annually, an official said.
Of the total students placed, 88% secured roles through on-campus recruitment, while 12% found jobs off-campus. A clear trend this year shows that 66% of offers came from core engineering sectors, while 34% were from the IT sector. Around 20% of students received packages above Rs 7 lakh, officials added.
