Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant breakthrough under the anti-drug crackdown 'Operation Dark Hunt', Poojappura police arrested a 28-year-old man with a criminal background from an apartment in Thirumala on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Siddharth S, a resident of Muttada in Peroorkada, was taken into custody from a rented flat following a coordinated raid.
Details of the Raid
The operation was jointly conducted by the Dansaf squad and Poojappura police based on confidential information received by City Police Commissioner K Karthick. During the inspection, law enforcement officials seized a substantial quantity of narcotic substances, including 5.311 grams of ganja, 10 LSD stamps weighing 0.126 grams, 5.051 grams of MDMA, 17.633 grams of hashish oil, and 38.546 grams of hybrid ganja.
Previous Criminal Record
Police revealed that Siddharth S has a history of drug-related offenses. He previously served a three-year jail term in connection with a 200-kilogram ganja seizure case registered at the Balaramapuram police station. Additionally, he faces another case registered by the excise department for possession of narcotic substances.
Legal Proceedings
Further legal proceedings against the accused are underway. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days as investigations continue. The police are also probing his potential links to larger drug networks operating in the region.
This arrest is part of 'Operation Dark Hunt', a concerted effort by the city police to curb the illegal drug trade and ensure the safety of the community. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
