Mandatory Industrial Visits for Technical Students in Uttar Pradesh
Mandatory Industrial Visits for Technical Students in UP

Students enrolled in technical education programs across Uttar Pradesh will now be required to undertake mandatory industrial visits and training sessions to gain practical exposure. This decision was announced by Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel during a review meeting held on Tuesday.

Minister Emphasizes Practical Learning

Chairing the meeting, Patel stated that engineering students need to move beyond textbook knowledge and acquire hands-on experience. He outlined specific plans: civil engineering students will visit construction sites of expressways, tunnels, and dams, while mechanical and electrical engineering students will receive practical training at electric vehicle manufacturing units and other industrial establishments.

Two Mandatory Visits Per Student

The government intends to make two industrial visits compulsory for each student. Patel highlighted that new opportunities are emerging for the youth with upcoming industrial corridors, expressway networks, and investment projects. Therefore, it is essential to prepare technical education institutions to meet industry requirements.

Aligning Education with Industry Demands

The meeting, attended by representatives from Deloitte and departmental officials, focused on intensifying efforts to align technical education with industry demands. Patel emphasized that this initiative aims to transform Uttar Pradesh into a one trillion-dollar economy. The discussion also covered ongoing initiatives to equip graduates with practical knowledge, modern technology skills, and real-world industry experience, fostering self-reliance and immediate job readiness.

Progress on Key Initiatives

A progress report was sought on several key initiatives, including a placement portal, integration of artificial intelligence, and improvements in NAAC and NIRF rankings. Patel noted that the department's placement portal has already onboarded over 8,000 students. Additionally, a dedicated landing page is being developed in collaboration with Naukri.com to provide students with more local employment opportunities, connecting them with both private sector and global prospects.
