The disruption started around 5:45 PM UAE time, with users across Dubai and other emirates stating they were suddenly logged out of Facebook and unable to sign back in. Many encountered error messages despite entering correct login credentials, while others saw blank pages, frozen news feeds, and timelines that failed to load.
Global Impact
Users in the UAE were not alone. Similar problems emerged worldwide, with Facebook appearing to be the hardest-hit platform. Many users reported being abruptly logged out and receiving messages stating that an "unexpected error occurred" when attempting to log back in. Others noted that stories, comments, and Messenger conversations were failing to load properly.
On Reddit and other social media platforms, users described widespread disruptions across Meta's services. Some said Facebook pages stopped updating, while others reported issues sending and receiving messages on Messenger and WhatsApp.
Outage Monitoring
Outage-monitoring services recorded a sharp spike in complaints during the incident. Before experiencing issues of its own, Downdetector logged more than 113,000 reports related to Facebook and over 9,500 reports related to Instagram. Reports of WhatsApp and Messenger disruptions also surged as the outage spread globally.
