Nagpur Police Gets Segways for Patrolling Lakes and Markets

The city police commissionerate in Nagpur has received five segways, also known as balancing scooters, to enhance patrolling efficiency in lake and market areas. This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, and Additional Commissioner of Police (Northern Division) Rajendra Dabhade. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone C-1) Rishikesh Reddy played a key role in making this possible.

Allocation of Segways

The segways, provided by Mihan India Limited, have been allocated to police stations at Sonegaon, Sitaburdi, Ambazari, Tehsil, and Sakkardara. They will be deployed specifically at Sonegaon Lake, Ambazari Lake, Futala Lake, Sitaburdi market, Sakkardara Tajbagh area, and Tehsil-Itwari market. These locations are known for high foot traffic and require efficient crowd management.

Training and Deployment

Police personnel have undergone training to operate these modern mobility devices. During patrolling, officers will use the segways to make public announcements, manage crowds, and ensure smooth movement in busy areas. The segways allow officers to navigate through narrow and congested spaces more effectively than traditional patrol methods.

This initiative aims to improve police visibility and response times in crowded areas, enhancing public safety. The segways are eco-friendly and cost-effective, reducing the need for fuel-powered vehicles. The Nagpur police commissionerate plans to expand this program based on the success of the initial deployment.
