Prayagraj: In a major push towards digital governance and administrative efficiency, the North Central Railway (NCR) has launched a new web-based application, 'NCR-HOME (Housing & Occupancy Management Engine),' aimed at streamlining the allotment and management of staff quarters.
The platform is expected to benefit over 60,000 railway employees across the zone. The application was formally launched by GM, NCR, Naresh Pal Singh in the presence of senior officials and staff members. The initiative reflects NCR’s continued focus on adopting technology-driven solutions to enhance transparency, efficiency, and user convenience in personnel-related services.
Digital Transformation of Accommodation Management
Senior PRO, NCR, Amit Malviya said that this digital platform will simplify the entire lifecycle of railway accommodation management. Employees will be able to apply for quarters online, check availability, track the status of their applications, and receive real-time notifications. At the same time, the system equips administrators with advanced tools for workflow management, reporting, and audit tracking, thereby reducing reliance on manual processes, he said.
Structured Digital Workflow
The application follows a structured end-to-end digital workflow. The process begins at the dealer level and moves through verification and acceptance stages. Special provisions for cases like out-of-turn allotments and pool transfers have also been incorporated into the system. This ensures that exceptional cases are handled efficiently without disrupting the overall process.
Development and Implementation
The platform has been developed by the IT Cell of the NCR, with significant contributions from Ashish Kumar, Amit Kumar, and Anil Kumar Patel under the guidance of Atul Kumar Mishra. The application is expected to become fully operational within the next 20–25 days after final deployment and onboarding, marking another milestone in NCR’s journey towards digital excellence and improved employee services.
This initiative aligns with the Indian Railways' broader vision of leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and employee satisfaction. By automating the housing allocation process, NCR aims to reduce delays, minimize errors, and ensure fair distribution of resources. The real-time notification system will keep employees informed at every stage, eliminating the need for physical follow-ups.
With over 60,000 employees set to benefit, the NCR-HOME application is expected to set a benchmark for other railway zones. The system's advanced reporting and audit tracking features will also help administrators monitor performance and maintain transparency. As the platform goes live in the coming weeks, it promises to transform the way railway staff quarters are managed, making the process more efficient and user-friendly.
