Nagpur: Following issues with wrong question papers and missing attendance sheets, two separate significant errors have been reported during the Summer Examination 2026 of Nagpur University (NU). In one case, four fifth-semester law students from Hinganghat were initially declared 'fail' due to a technical mistake, only to be later declared passed after a review. In another case, several BA Second Semester (NEP) students received hall tickets mentioning the wrong subject just days before their examinations. Students have also reported mismatches between examination centres mentioned on hall tickets and actual allotted centres.
Law Students Wrongly Marked Fail
The law students noticed that their mark sheets showed they had scored sufficient marks required to clear the exam but were still marked 'fail'. They approached Senate member Rahul Hanwate, who took up the matter with the university administration. An inquiry revealed that the students were incorrectly shown as 'fail' due to a technical error in the examination section. Following verification, the university issued revised mark sheets and declared all four students passed.
BA Students Receive Wrong Hall Tickets
In the case of BA second semester (NEP) students, the hall tickets incorrectly mentioned 'Open Elective-II' instead of the prescribed 'Open Elective-I' subject. The error was detected only days before the examination. The university subsequently issued a circular clarifying that the mention of Open Elective-II was a technical mistake and instructed students to appear for the Open Elective-I examination as per the prescribed syllabus and schedule on Monday (June 15).
Concerns Over Repeated Errors
While the clarification provided temporary relief, students expressed concern over such mistakes surfacing at the last moment. Students and teachers argue that errors related to results, hall tickets and examination subjects directly affect students' academic careers and mental well-being and cannot be dismissed merely as technical glitches.
