OnePlus has announced a major expansion of its Indian smartphone portfolio with the introduction of the N Series. The brand-new lineup is aimed directly at India's massive Gen Z and younger users. The company confirmed that the first smartphone under this new umbrella, the OnePlus N6, is scheduled to officially launch on June 30.
According to the company, the move marks a pivot for OnePlus India. By introducing the N Series, the company will now segment its smartphone offerings into three distinct price tiers to capture a wider share of the Indian market:
- N Series (Rs 18,000 - Rs 25,000): Built for Gen-Z users, bringing core OnePlus features to a budget-friendly audience.
- Nord Series (Rs 25,000 - Rs 50,000): Focused on buyers looking for flagship-inspired features at mid-range prices.
- Flagship Series (Rs 50,000 and above): Premium smartphones featuring the company's most advanced technology and innovations.
Capturing India's 'never off' generation
According to OnePlus executives, the expectations of these younger buyers have completely changed, as they increasingly use smartphones as their primary screen for entertainment, remote learning, casual gaming, and content creation.
“The Rs 18,000 - Rs 25,000 segment sits at the center of India's smartphone market today, but it is also where expectations from technology are changing the fastest,” said Ford, vice-president of OnePlus India.
Explaining the philosophy behind the branding, Ford added, “For us, N stands for New, Neo, and Never Off. We have entered a new era with this series... delivering 'Never Off' power that keeps them going without compromise.” The company stated that the N Series will focus heavily on three core OnePlus pillars: long-lasting battery life, smooth performance and thoughtful product design.
