Software Engineer Arrested for AI-Generated Intimate Images

A 34-year-old software engineer has been arrested in Chennai for creating and distributing AI-generated intimate images of a female colleague on social media platforms. The accused also tagged these images with the location of her residence.

Incident Details

The 24-year-old married woman, also a software engineer, works at a private IT firm in Perungalathur. According to police, the matter came to light when the woman's friend alerted her about explicit posts being shared from a fake Instagram account created in her name. The public posts included images depicting the woman in an inappropriate manner along with obscene messages. The images were also tagged with her home location.

Police Investigation

The woman filed a complaint at the Shankar Nagar all-women police station. Following this, police traced the source to a mobile phone belonging to a resident of Pozhichalur, who worked at the same company as the woman. Investigations revealed that workplace conflicts had led the accused to seek revenge. He downloaded the woman's display pictures from social media, created intimate images and videos using artificial intelligence, and set up a fake Instagram profile to circulate them.
