Chennai: Southern Railway has announced modifications in suburban EMU train services scheduled from June 5 to June 6, attributed to engineering works in the Chennai Egmore-Villupuram section between Kodambakkam and St Thomas Mount stations. The railway authorities stated that a line block and power block would be implemented from 11:05 pm on June 5 to 3:05 am on June 6, leading to the cancellation or partial cancellation of late-night EMU services.

Full Cancellation of Two EMU Local Services

Two Chennai Beach-Tambaram EMU local services will be entirely cancelled on June 5. These include Train No 40089, which was scheduled to depart Chennai Beach at 11:40 pm, and Train No 40091, scheduled to depart at 11:59 pm. Passengers who typically rely on these services are advised to make alternative travel arrangements.

Partial Cancellation of Two Other Services

Additionally, the railways have announced partial cancellation of two services operating between Tambaram and Chennai Beach. Train No 40208, a Guduvancheri-Chennai Beach EMU local that departs Guduvancheri at 11:20 pm, and Train No 40572, a Chengalpattu-Chennai Beach EMU local that departs Chengalpattu at 11 pm, will be partially cancelled. The specific segments affected have not been detailed, but commuters are urged to check with railway authorities for precise information.
