The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026, inviting applications for several Group B non-gazetted posts across various ministries and departments of the Government of India. This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies for Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Senior Hindi Translator, and Senior Translation Officer positions.

Application Process and Deadlines

The online application process commenced on April 23, 2026, and will remain open until May 14, 2026. Candidates must complete their registration and submit the application form before the deadline. The last date for fee payment is May 15, 2026. Applicants can make corrections to their applications from May 19 to May 20, 2026. The first paper of the examination is scheduled to be conducted between August and September 2026.

Application Fee

Candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100. However, candidates from SC, ST, PwBD, women, and ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying the fee.

Vacancy Details

A total of 84 tentative vacancies have been announced for various posts, which may be subject to modification. The posts include Junior Translation Officer, Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, and Senior Translation Officer.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have completed a Master's degree in either Hindi or English. Additionally, candidates should possess a translation diploma or certification, or have relevant experience working in government departments related to translation, depending on the specific post.

Age Limit

The age of applicants must be between 18 and 30 years as of August 1, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules and regulations.

Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of two rounds. The first paper is a computer-based test comprising multiple-choice questions from General Hindi and General English, carrying a total of 200 marks. Each wrong answer will result in a deduction of 0.25 marks. The second paper is a descriptive test covering translation and essays, also worth 200 marks. Candidates must complete the registration and submit all necessary documents before finalizing the application.
