Tamil Nadu records 99.91% pass in ICSE, ISC exams

Chennai: Tamil Nadu recorded a pass percentage of 99.91% in the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were announced on Thursday. According to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), in Class X, all 2,997 girls who appeared for the exam passed. Out of 3,434 boys who took the test, 3,428 (99.8%) passed. As for Class XII, 1,500 girls (99.9%) of 1,501 and 1,802 boys (99.9%) of 1,804 who took the test passed.

Top Scorers and Their Achievements

V Samyuktha from Primrose Schools in Injambakkam scored 392 out of 400 in Class XII. She expressed her happiness at becoming the school topper and thanked her teachers for her success. She is now preparing to appear for the NEET UG exam scheduled on Sunday.

R S Navya from Vaels International School in Injambakkam scored 391 out of 400 marks in Class XII. Class X student K Saiprasad from the same school scored 490 out of 500 marks. While the scores are ranked out of 400 for ISC, the evaluation is done out of 500 for ICSE.

Sai Hridhay, school topper at Vellore International School (VIS), a new entrant to the ICSE/ISC domain, scored 450 out of 500 in ICSE. He said, "I want to take up science and pursue engineering later. I wish to specialise in chemistry."

School Heads Share Their Views

School heads say the results are encouraging even as the evaluation was strict. Ganesh Perumal, CEO of Primrose Schools, noted, "Our ISC percentage increased, and 24 ICSE students scored a centum this year, most of them being in Biology."

S Sujatha, principal of Vaels International School, said the school had 11 centums in ISC. "Our students have performed well even in subjects that they found tough," she added.

Vellore International School principal K Prabhakaran welcomed the results, stating, "Ours is a new school. We have achieved a 100% pass in ICSE. Of the 28 students who appeared for the exams, seven scored between 80 and 90%. The performance is only bound to improve."
