Texas-based journalist Sara Gonzales, known for investigating H-1B visa fraud, targeted Great America Technologies in her latest video. However, her confrontation with company director Nagarjuna Reddy Sakam escalated into a heated dispute.
Background of the Confrontation
Gonzales has been actively exposing alleged H-1B fraud in Texas, prompting some government action. In her recent probe, she scrutinized Great America Technologies, a company founded in 2017 with Laxmi Chaitanya Boggula initially listed as director, later replaced by her husband Nagarjuna. Gonzales claimed the company lacked a physical office, had a non-functional phone number, and an uninformative website. She surprised Nagarjuna at his residential address.
Nagarjuna's Response
Nagarjuna explained that the company is small, undergoing an address change, and has few H-1B employees working for various clients. He clarified that he holds a Green Card and is not conducting business solely on H-1B visas. Accusing Gonzales of targeting the Indian community, he stated, "USCIS and the government are there to investigate if there is any fraud." He questioned her motives, asking, "Don't you have any job?" and threatened to file a lawsuit, asserting he is not engaging in illegal activities.
Aftermath and Further Dispute
Following the altercation, Gonzales visited the new address Nagarjuna provided, which turned out to be a co-working space with no one present. She then called him again, demanding Public Access Files, leading to another argument. Nagarjuna stated he had called 911 and that police were en route.
External Perspectives
US entrepreneur James Blunt, a frequent commentator on immigration, reviewed the company and found no wrongdoing. He described it as a consultancy that recruits personnel for clients. Blunt criticized Gonzales's methods, suggesting that property owners should ask for identification, deny entry, and record interactions. Gonzales defended her actions against accusations of trespassing, claiming Nagarjuna spoke with her for 15 minutes before becoming hostile after realizing his situation, at which point they left.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions surrounding H-1B visa enforcement and the tactics used by self-styled whistleblowers. Gonzales continues to assert that her investigations target genuine fraud, while critics argue her approach may overstep legal boundaries.
