The local crime branch in Wardha district conducted a targeted raid and uncovered an illegal cannabis cultivation operation beside a house in Hamadapur village, falling under the Dahegaon police station limits. The accused, identified as Praful Tulsiram Shambharkar, was found to be cultivating cannabis plants near the compound of his residence.
Seizure Details
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized two large cannabis plants along with their leaves, branches, and roots. The total weight of the seized cannabis was recorded at 4.9 kilograms, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 82,000, as per police sources.
Illegal Cultivation
According to the police, Shambharkar allegedly cultivated the cannabis plants without obtaining any requisite permission from the authorities. The action was taken as part of a district-wide anti-narcotics campaign initiated on the directives of Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal.
Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Dahegaon police station. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare and was led by Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary. The team included Police Sub-Inspector Salam Qureshi and other members of the local crime branch.
