AKTU to Use AI for Exam Seating, Barcode Admit Cards

Lucknow: The management of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has announced the implementation of an artificial intelligence-based mechanism for preparing seating plans in upcoming examinations and marking attendance. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the examination process.

Barcode Admit Cards and Digital Verification

The university has introduced admit cards embedded with a special barcode. According to Vice-Chancellor Prof JP Pandey, invigilators can scan the barcode to access complete student details. If any tampering is detected, the student will be barred from entering the examination hall.

Digital Attendance and Signature

Invigilators will use a scanner to mark attendance, capture the student's photograph, and scan the first page of the answer booklet. Both the invigilator and the examinee will digitally sign the attendance record on the invigilator's tablet. This process ensures accurate and tamper-proof attendance tracking.

Real-Time Monitoring Dashboard

The entire process will be monitored in real time through an examination dashboard located in the control room. Centre-wise attendance data from 756 affiliated colleges across Uttar Pradesh will be received instantly, allowing for swift oversight and intervention if needed.

Pilot Project at Centre for Advanced Studies

As a pilot project, the new AI-based mechanism is being utilized during MTech examinations at the Centre for Advanced Studies. The successful implementation here could lead to a broader rollout across all affiliated colleges in the state.

This technological upgrade aligns with the university's commitment to leveraging modern tools for academic administration. By automating seating plans and attendance, AKTU aims to reduce manual errors and enhance the overall examination experience for students and staff alike.
