Apple's New 'Drumbeats' Campaign Uses Royal Court Chaos to Sell iPhone 16
Apple's Drumbeats Campaign: Royal Court Chaos for iPhone 16

Apple's latest campaign in India, titled 'Drumbeats,' presents a unique narrative: a grand royal court, a panic-stricken messenger delivering bad news, and an iPhone 16 that effortlessly resolves each crisis before the king loses his composure.

Campaign Overview

Launched on April 26, the campaign comprises six 15-second films, each highlighting a specific iPhone 16 feature: Find My, Fast Charging, Centre Stage, Dual Capture, and Visual Intelligence. Every film builds a small comic crisis around the feature, such as missing AirPods or a dying battery before a flight. The chaos feels oddly relatable, even in a royal setting.

Six Films, Six Features, Six Royal Crises

The period setting is played straight, adding to the humor. The messenger is always panicked, the royals are perpetually exasperated, and the iPhone arrives just in time. The format fits perfectly into 15 seconds, with no wasted time and a built-in punchline.

The featured capabilities are genuinely practical. Centre Stage now captures up to 18MP from the front and automatically widens for group selfies. Dual Capture simultaneously uses front and rear cameras. Fast Charging reaches 50% in 20 minutes with the appropriate adapter. Visual Intelligence, activated via the Action button, can read text, identify objects, and delegate complex queries to ChatGPT.

Rather than relying on generic aspirational imagery, Apple opted for a flustered palace messenger. The films are available on Apple India's YouTube channel.
