Varanasi: Jangipur police in Ghazipur district arrested a notorious cattle smuggler and accused in murder and rape cases, Ziauddin alias Ziyau Qureshi (35), following an encounter near Baghol Pulia on Madarpur late on Friday night.
Encounter Details
Ghazipur CO City Shekhar Sengar said that Jangipur cops were busy in night patrolling near Baghol Pulia on Madarpur road, when they noticed a motorcycle and signalled its rider to stop. However, he turned the motorcycle and tried to flee. When cops started chasing him, he fired at them in his bid to escape, said the CO adding that when the cops started retaliatory firing, he suffered a bullet injury in the leg and fell on the road.
Seizure and Identification
The police also seized the motorcycle, a country-made pistol, and cartridges from him. Police later rushed him to the district hospital, where he was identified as Ziyau Qureshi of Nonahra. A total of seven cases of cattle smuggling, murder, rape, and others are lodged against him at different police stations.
