Crane Rams Building in Bengaluru After Brake Failure

A crane traveling uphill on a road in Bengaluru's Kadirenahalli area, Banashankari, rolled backwards after its brakes malfunctioned and came to a halt only after crashing into a three-story building early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 2 a.m., and fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Details of the Accident

The crane was moving toward Banashankari from Training College Circle when the clutch plate developed a snag while navigating a slope. The driver attempted to apply the brakes, but they failed. According to a police officer, there were no vehicles behind the crane at that moment, which prevented a more severe outcome. The vehicle first struck an electric pole on the road divider, then jumped over the divider and continued moving backward before hitting the building.

Damage Assessment

The building that was struck houses a shop on the ground floor and two residences on the upper floors. Additionally, a parked car was damaged when the crane brushed against it. Authorities are assessing the structural integrity of the building.
