New AI System 'Kartavya' to Monitor Attendance of Karnataka Govt Employees
Karnataka has launched a new artificial intelligence system named 'Kartavya' to monitor the attendance of state government employees. Developed under the supervision of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e-Governance), the system was jointly created by the Centre for e-Governance (CeG) and the Karnataka AI Cell.
The initiative aims to enhance efficiency and accountability among government staff by leveraging AI technology to track attendance in real time. This move is part of the state's broader digital governance efforts to streamline administrative processes.
According to officials, the system will help reduce absenteeism and ensure better resource management. The announcement was made on 15 June 2026, marking a significant step in Karnataka's e-governance journey.
