Nvidia CEO: Don't Worry About AI-Proof Subjects

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has advised parents not to overly concern themselves with selecting "AI-proof" subjects for their children, asserting that traditional human abilities such as storytelling, creativity, and communication will remain crucial even as artificial intelligence reshapes various industries. Speaking to Channel NewsAsia, the Nvidia chief emphasized that the primary focus for students and professionals should be on leveraging AI to enhance their work and skills rather than fearing the technology.

Embrace AI as a Tool for Growth

"So whatever you decide is your passion, the only one thing that you have to do is to make sure that you ask yourself how can AI help elevate my learning, my craft, my purpose," Huang stated. He encouraged individuals to view AI as a means to improve rather than a threat.

Human Skills Remain Relevant

When questioned about what children should study to stay relevant in the age of AI, Huang replied, "I think that it won't matter." He elaborated, "All the things that used to matter are still things that are going to matter in the future." Huang highlighted fields such as journalism, broadcasting, arts, and design as areas where human judgment and creativity will continue to be indispensable. He noted that successful reporters and interviewers excel not just by preparing questions but also by being present in the moment and responding dynamically to conversations.

"You're also staying in the moment, listening to my question and picking up on something that maybe the audience would be interested in," Huang explained. He underscored that storytelling will retain its value even as AI tools advance. "The ability to tell a story for an audience will remain just as important in the future as it is today," he said.

Art and Creativity in the AI Era

The Nvidia CEO also stressed the enduring importance of art and creativity, citing fields like filmmaking, car design, and chip-making as examples. Huang has consistently encouraged workers and students to familiarize themselves with AI tools as companies increasingly integrate artificial intelligence across sectors.
