India's electric motorcycle segment is rapidly evolving, with new options emerging frequently. Bengaluru-based EV startup Oben Electric has launched its latest product, the Rorr Evo, which directly competes with the Matter Aera 5000. Here is a detailed comparison of these two electric motorcycles across key parameters.

Performance and Range

The Oben Rorr Evo is powered by a 9 kW motor paired with a 3.4 kWh battery, offering a claimed top speed of 110 kmph and a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of approximately 3 seconds. In contrast, the Matter Aera 5000 delivers 11.5 kW of peak power, accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 2.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 105 kmph. A notable difference is the Aera's 4-speed manual gearbox, which provides a distinct riding experience.

Regarding range, the Rorr Evo claims 180 km on the IDC cycle, powered by a 3.4 kWh LFP battery pack. The Matter Aera 5000 features a larger 5 kWh battery but offers a slightly lower claimed range of 172 km.

Charging

Both motorcycles support fast charging. The Rorr Evo can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 90 minutes. The Aera 5000 takes about 5 hours for a standard charge but can achieve 0-80 percent in a similar time using a fast charger.

Hardware

The Matter Aera 5000 is equipped with telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, and liquid cooling for both the motor and battery. It features a 270 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc with ABS. The Rorr Evo uses telescopic front suspension, a rear monoshock, disc brakes at both ends, an aluminium battery casing, and a chain drive setup.

Features

The Rorr Evo comes with a 5-inch TFT display, navigation, geo-fencing, theft protection, and a unique SmartiQ AI ride mode that adapts power delivery based on riding style. It also includes fall detection with emergency alerts and a segment-first 10 litres of storage. The Matter Aera 5000 offers a larger 7-inch touchscreen display with 4G connectivity, navigation, OTA updates, and a host of connected features through its app, along with keyless operation, gear position indicator, and shift assist.

Pricing

The Oben Rorr Evo is launched at an introductory price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom), which will later increase to Rs 1.25 lakh. In comparison, the Matter Aera 5000 is priced at Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom).
