SAS, a global leader in data and AI, is set to enhance India's Vehicle Administration and Handling Application Network (VAHAN) by using advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to improve governance and resolve anomalies. The project, under the e-Transport Mission Mode Project (e-Transport MMP) led by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and implemented by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), aims to boost the platform's efficiency, reliability, and service delivery.
Transforming Transport Administration
The e-Transport MMP has already transformed transport administration in India by automating Regional Transport Office (RTO) operations nationwide. It has created a consolidated national transport database with real-time access to vehicle and transport information, enabling citizen-centric and trade-centric applications as part of the Digital India Programme. Now, SAS will focus on strengthening anomaly detection, data management, harmonization, and quality across VAHAN's large and diverse datasets.
Key Objectives
- Enable a unified view of vehicle and transport-related data to support faster decision-making.
- Improve regulatory oversight and enhance citizen experience on the portal.
- Identify and prioritize high-impact issues through Vehicle Registration & Lifecycle Analytics and Enforcement Analytics.
With data-driven insights, transport authorities can better understand trends, proactively identify risks, and design more responsive and transparent services for citizens.
