Supermicro Launches Edge AI Appliances with Red Hat and Everpure

Supermicro, in collaboration with Red Hat and Everpure, has launched a validated full-stack Kubernetes Edge AI appliance. This turnkey solution integrates Supermicro's edge computing hardware, Red Hat OpenShift, and Portworx by Everpure's data management platform, providing customers with a preloaded software and hardware package for AI inferencing at the edge.

Simplifying Edge AI Deployments

"AI inferencing at the edge requires more than just hardware--it demands a validated, scalable platform that customers can deploy with confidence," said Vik Malyala, chief business officer at Supermicro. "Together with Red Hat and Everpure, we are delivering a turnkey Kubernetes Edge AI Appliance that simplifies deployment, accelerates time-to-revenue, and enables customers to efficiently scale AI workloads across distributed edge environments."

The appliance leverages Red Hat OpenShift, a leading Kubernetes-driven hybrid cloud application platform, to provide a consistent environment for deploying and managing AI workloads. Portworx by Everpure adds a Kubernetes-native storage and data management layer, enabling enterprise-grade data services for AI inference, containers, and virtual machines at edge locations.

Enterprise-Grade Data Management at the Edge

Portworx offers software-defined, aggregated local storage on Supermicro's compact edge servers, creating a resilient, self-healing data platform that operates autonomously even during network outages. This eliminates the need for dedicated hardware arrays at each site, providing high availability and data protection with consistent storage policies from edge to core to cloud.

"Enterprises deploying AI at the edge face a critical infrastructure gap: they need enterprise-grade storage and data protection, but they can't run traditional arrays in environments like retail stores or factory floors," said Greg Muscarella, general manager of Portworx by Everpure. "Together with Supermicro and Red Hat, we're delivering a validated, turnkey solution that combines Portworx services customers rely on--like consistent management, built-in resilience, and operational simplicity to scale to thousands of sites without on-site IT expertise."

Red Hat's Role in Hybrid Cloud Consistency

"As AI-driven applications continue to reshape how businesses operate at the edge, the need for a robust, consistent, and scalable platform is paramount. Red Hat OpenShift delivers that foundation, providing the common hybrid cloud application environment that simplifies the complexity of deploying, orchestrating, and managing AI workloads," said Kelly Switt, senior director of Intelligent Edge and Industrial Business Lead at Red Hat. "In collaboration with Supermicro and Everpure, we are committed to empowering customers with a supported, integrated, and high-performance solution that accelerates their time-to-value for AI inferencing at the edge."

Supermicro's Edge Infrastructure Portfolio

Supermicro is a leader in edge computing infrastructure, offering one of the largest and most energy-efficient portfolios of edge servers and devices in various form factors. This enables tailored solutions for each customer use case, optimizing initial acquisition cost and total cost of ownership (TCO). The company's Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) provide complete, modular AI infrastructure built from validated components, allowing flexible deployment from individual servers to full rack-scale and data center-level solutions.

This collaboration addresses the growing demand for AI at the edge, where organizations need to deploy AI applications in distributed environments such as retail stores, factory floors, and remote locations. By combining Red Hat OpenShift's hybrid cloud platform, Portworx's data management, and Supermicro's edge hardware, the validated appliance offers a streamlined path to production-ready edge AI.
