Zurich Insurance Group on Wednesday inaugurated its new global capability centre in Hyderabad, marking a significant expansion of its technology and artificial intelligence operations. This move is part of the company's broader strategy to modernize insurance services and enhance its digital capabilities.
Strategic Expansion in Hyderabad
The facility will serve as a strategic extension of Zurich's global operating model, taking end-to-end responsibility across engineering, data, and core business operations. The company emphasized that AI-enabled ways of working will be embedded from the outset, shaping how solutions are designed, delivered, and scaled across the group.
Leadership Appointment
Zurich also announced the appointment of Amit Kalra as head of Zurich Capability Centres, effective July 1, 2026. Based in India, Kalra will lead the group's capability centre strategy worldwide and oversee the establishment and growth of the Hyderabad hub.
India as a Key Talent Market
Cara Morton, CEO of Zurich Global Businesses & Operations, stated that India remains a key talent market for the insurer, with Hyderabad offering strong engineering expertise and innovation. The Hyderabad centre has been designed to help Zurich build modern technology and AI-led capabilities without legacy constraints.
Planned Hiring and Focus Areas
The company plans to hire specialists in cloud and platform engineering, data and AI, application development, cybersecurity, and quality engineering. Teams in Hyderabad will manage the full lifecycle of solutions, from design and build to execution, while contributing directly to global platforms and customer-focused services.
