Telecommunications giant AT&T has reached a massive $177 million settlement to resolve lawsuits stemming from two major data breaches that compromised the personal information of millions of its customers. If you were an AT&T customer during the affected periods, you could be eligible for a compensation payout ranging from $2,500 to a substantial $7,500. The crucial deadline to submit your claim is December 18, 2025.
Who is Eligible for the AT&T Settlement Payout?
The settlement addresses two separate data security incidents. The first class includes customers impacted by a breach discovered on March 30, 2024, where sensitive data like addresses, Social Security numbers, and passcodes were accessed and later leaked on the dark web. The second class pertains to a breach on July 12, 2024, which involved the illegal download of customer call and text records.
Notably, some customers affected by both breaches may be eligible to file claims for each incident, potentially maximizing their compensation. If you are uncertain about your status, you can contact the settlement administrator at 833-890-4930 or visit the official website of the Kroll Settlement Administration.
How Much Money Can You Receive?
The total settlement fund of $177 million is divided, with $149 million allocated for the March breach and $28 million for the July breach. The compensation structure is tiered based on the type of exposure and proof of loss provided.
For the March 2024 breach, customers can claim up to $5,000 through a documented loss cash payment. Those whose Social Security numbers were exposed (Tier 1) are eligible for a payment five times higher than those whose other data was compromised (Tier 2).
For the July 2024 breach, affected customers can claim up to $2,500 by providing proof of loss. Additionally, they may opt for a share of the remaining settlement fund (Tier 3) after costs and other claims are paid.
Critically, customers impacted by both data breaches could receive a combined maximum of up to $7,500 in compensation.
