In a significant crackdown on cyber criminal activities, the Deeg police in Alwar district has successfully dismantled a fraud gang operating in the region. The police team arrested seven individuals and confiscated crucial evidence including mobile phones and counterfeit SIM cards.
Operation Antivirus 2.0 Nets Cyber Criminals
The breakthrough came as part of the district police's dedicated campaign against cyber criminals dubbed 'Operation Antivirus 2.0'. According to Deeg SP Om Prakash Meena, the Jurhara station police conducted the operation on Wednesday night following specific intelligence inputs.
Police received crucial information from an informer about suspicious activities happening in the fields behind Shakeel Hotel in Jurhara town. The tip-off indicated that several individuals were engaged in cyber fraud operations from this remote location.
Night Raid Uncovers Elaborate Fraud Scheme
Acting swiftly on the information, a police team raided the spot after dark and discovered seven people actively operating mobile phones. The officers immediately apprehended all the suspects and began investigation into their activities.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shakir (32), Saleem (25), Khalil (32), Arsad (40), Liyakat (34), Sahjan (30), and Rajesh Singh (19). During the search operation, police recovered four Android mobile phones and seven fake SIM cards from their possession.
Deceptive Social Media Strategy Exposed
Investigations revealed that the gang employed a clever but fraudulent scheme on social media platforms. The accused allegedly posted advertisements offering milk-producing cows and buffaloes at surprisingly low prices to attract potential buyers.
Once unsuspecting individuals showed interest in these fake animal deals, the fraudsters would manipulate them into sharing personal information and making advance payments. The gang used fake SIM cards to avoid detection and maintain anonymity during their illegal operations.
This case highlights the growing sophistication of cyber criminals in rural and semi-urban areas of Rajasthan. The Deeg police have intensified their efforts under Operation Antivirus 2.0 to combat such digital crimes that target innocent citizens through social media platforms.
