Two Arrested in International Cyber Trafficking Operation

Gurugram police have made significant breakthroughs in an international human trafficking case involving cyber fraud operations in Myanmar. Two men were arrested in Hisar for allegedly recruiting and trafficking Indian nationals to Myanmar where they were forced to engage in cyber fraud activities controlled by individuals of Chinese origin.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep (24), a resident of Harita village, and Mukul (26), from Mahaveer colony. Both men were previously among the batch of Indian nationals rescued from cyber slavery in Myanmar and repatriated to India on November 10.

How the Trafficking Operation Worked

According to police officials, the case came to light after a formal complaint was filed by a person whose brother was among the individuals who returned from Myanmar. The complainant detailed how the accused lured his brother with promises of lucrative employment opportunities in Thailand.

The modus operandi involved sending victims to Thailand first, then illegally transporting them to Myanmar where they were forced to commit cyber fraud. When the complainant's brother refused to participate in criminal activities, he faced death threats. The accused also allegedly cheated him of Rs 4 lakh during this process.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Following the complaint, authorities registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the cybercrime police station in Manesar on November 20. The investigation led to the arrest of both accused in Hisar on Saturday.

During interrogation, Sandeep revealed that he traveled to Myanmar in December 2024, while Mukul made the journey in June 2025. Both men admitted to meeting Chinese individuals in Myanmar and becoming involved in cyber fraud operations.

A senior investigating officer explained their recruitment strategy: "They both earned commission for recruiting youth from India by luring them with the promise of getting them jobs in Thailand. Sandeep would take them illegally from Thailand to Myanmar, then, after taking them there, he would push them into cyber fraud operations run by people of Chinese origin."

Priyanshu Dewan, ACP Cyber, confirmed that "In return for this fraud, the accused used to receive a huge commission from their Chinese origin associates. We are questioning the accused after taking them on three days of police remand."

Growing Concern Over International Cyber Trafficking

This case highlights the emerging pattern of international cyber trafficking networks targeting Indian youth with fake job offers. The involvement of Chinese-origin operators in Myanmar-based cyber fraud operations has become a significant concern for Indian law enforcement agencies.

The successful arrests demonstrate Gurugram police's commitment to tackling cross-border cybercrime and human trafficking networks that exploit Indian citizens under false pretenses.
