Hyderabad Police Warns of Fake Ticket Apps for SRH vs RCB Match

Hyderabad: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar has issued a warning to cricket fans regarding a surge in fake ticket booking apps and websites ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) match scheduled for May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.

Fraudulent Platforms Mimic Official Apps

In a social media post on Saturday, the commissioner stated that cybercriminals are exploiting the high demand for tickets by creating fraudulent platforms that imitate the official ticketing partner's app. These fake platforms use similar logos and color schemes to deceive users. Advertisements for these fraudulent booking platforms are being widely circulated on social media platforms.

Risks of Using Fake Booking Sites

Sajjanar cautioned that users who click on such links and attempt to book tickets risk losing money and exposing sensitive banking details to fraudsters. Victims may neither receive tickets nor recover their payments. The police chief emphasized that these scams can lead to significant financial loss and identity theft.

Advisory for Cricket Fans

The commissioner urged citizens to rely only on verified platforms for ticket purchases, avoid clicking on unofficial links, and report any suspicious apps or websites to the police immediately. He stressed that authorities are closely monitoring such fraudulent activities and will take strict action against offenders.

Fans are advised to stay vigilant and only use the official ticketing partner's app or website to ensure a safe and secure transaction. The police have also requested the public to spread awareness about these scams to prevent others from falling victim.
