MUMBAI: Metro 3 Aqua line train services were disrupted for nearly an hour this morning, leaving commuters frustrated as there was no clarity on when operations would resume. The delay occurred during peak morning hours, causing major inconvenience to office-goers and other passengers.
Service Disruption Details
When contacted, a Metro 3 official stated that services were delayed by 30 minutes and would resume to normal soon. However, commuters reported that the actual disruption lasted nearly an hour. Sources indicated that services were halted due to a reported train snag.
Entry into some stations, including CSMT access points, was temporarily blocked to prevent overcrowding. Commuters confronted staff at ticket counters over missing updates on restoration. One passenger tweeted: "No Aqua line trains from Aarey JVLR for Cuffe Parade. No announcement, no support why??? Also yet not updated/notified on your own app taking consumers granted for everything." Another passenger posted on X: "No communication on when services will resume and utter chaos. The least expected is timely updates at stations so people are not left stranded and confused."
Official Response and Restoration
Mumbai Metro 3 put up an advisory on social media: "Due to a technical issue, train services are experiencing delays at both downline and upline ways. Fault has been rectified and normal services will be restored earliest. Passengers are requested to kindly remain patient during this time. We regret the inconvenience caused." Later, Metro 3 issued a statement: "Due to a technical issue, train services on both downline and upline routes experienced delays earlier today. The fault has since been rectified, and normal train services have now been restored."
The disruption highlighted the need for better communication during emergencies. Commuters expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of timely updates on social media and at stations. The incident also led to overcrowding at alternative transport options as passengers sought other ways to reach their destinations.
