Probe Ordered Into Rs 45 Lakh Unauthorised Withdrawal

Jamshedpur: West Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Manish Kumar on Friday ordered a probe into the case of alleged unauthorised withdrawal of around Rs 45 lakh from police department salary accounts. Earlier, similar cases surfaced from Bokaro and Hazaribag districts.

Constable Detained for Interrogation

A police constable of the district has been detained for interrogation after suspicious transactions were allegedly found linked to his account. Besides, personnel working in the police accounts sections have also been questioned, sources said.

Special Investigation Team Deployed

A special accounting team from the state police headquarters reportedly reached Chaibasa on Saturday for investigation. Treasury records, salary related transactions of the department, besides banking details and the timeline and mechanism through which the funds were fraudulently withdrawn will be probed.
