Jaipur: Police in Jaipur's Murlipura area on Saturday arrested two men for allegedly attempting to break into an ATM after learning the techniques from YouTube videos, officials said.
Details of the Accused
Police have identified the accused as Rajjad (23), a resident of Giridih in Jharkhand currently living in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttam (30), a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in New Delhi.
Planning and Execution
According to DCP (West) Prashant Kiran, the accused came to Jaipur on a stolen motorcycle from Delhi after allegedly planning the robbery online. Police said the duo conducted reconnaissance of several ATMs in Jaipur before attempting the theft. Investigators said the accused watched YouTube videos to learn methods of breaking ATM machines and followed online instructions to purchase hammers, chisels, gloves, and masks in Jaipur.
Officials said the bike used in the crime had been stolen from Delhi. Acting on CCTV footage, police teams traced and arrested the accused from Prem Nagar in Murlipura. Police recovered the stolen motorcycle along with a hammer, masks, gloves, and other tools allegedly used in the attempt.
Interrogation and Investigation
SHO (Murlipura) Virendra Kuril said interrogation revealed that the accused downloaded online links and studied ATM-breaking methods before traveling to Jaipur. Police said the duo covered their faces with cloth and wore gloves while attempting the crime. Police added that further investigation is under way.
