Woman Files Complaint Against Ex-Boyfriend for Cyber Harassment

A 31-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with the Junagadh C Division police, alleging cyber harassment, defamation, and death threats from a man with whom she was previously in a relationship. The accused has been identified as Lalo Dafda, a resident of Lathi in Amreli district.

Background of the Case

According to officials, the woman had previously filed an FIR against Dafda at Shapar Veraval police station on March 31 over allegations of blackmail and extortion. Following that complaint, Dafda was arrested. However, after securing bail and being released from jail, he allegedly resumed harassing and threatening her online.

Details of the Latest Incident

In the latest FIR, the woman stated that the accused contacted her husband via Instagram between May 1 and May 15. During these exchanges, Dafda allegedly abused the complainant and threatened to kill her and her son.

Police further reported that Dafda uploaded private photographs of himself and the complainant, taken during their past relationship, on Instagram. This was done in an attempt to defame her before her husband and family members.

Previous Relationship and Extortion

The complainant revealed that she had come into contact with Dafda through Instagram about eight months ago while she was staying with her parents in Shapar Veraval after separating from her husband. Their relationship later soured when she tried to end contact with him. The woman alleged that Dafda began blackmailing her by threatening to make her private photographs viral on social media. He extorted Rs 60,000 and gold jewellery from her.

Police Action

After receiving fresh threats from the accused, the complainant shifted to Junagadh with her parents and approached the local police. A case has been registered under Sections 351(3) and 296(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
