HAVERI: In a dramatic incident, 17 passengers had a narrow escape after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) 'Pallakki' bus caught fire and was completely reduced to ashes in Haveri district, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Incident Details

The bus was en route from Bengaluru to Gadag when the fire broke out on the Karnataka highway near Devarudda village in Ranebennur taluk. According to officials, the flames suddenly erupted while the bus was in motion.

Driver's Quick Action

The driver, identified as Pakkirappa, noticed the flames immediately and brought the vehicle to a halt. His prompt response and alertness played a crucial role in saving the lives of all 17 passengers aboard. The bus was soon engulfed in fire, but no injuries were reported.

Police from Ranebennur Rural visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Ranebennur Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
