Seminar and Fruits Festival by Cauvery Calling in Trichy
The Cauvery Calling movement will conduct a seminar and a fruits festival at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Trichy on June 14. The announcement was made during a press conference held in Trichy on Friday by Cauvery Calling field coordinator Tamilmaran.
Tamilmaran highlighted the negative impacts of monocropping, which he stated reduces farmers' income and depletes soil fertility and groundwater. He noted that farmers in Tamil Nadu traditionally practiced food forest systems with fruit trees, but these have largely disappeared due to monocropping. The seminar aims to revive that model by guiding farmers on fruit cultivation, value addition, and marketing.
The one-day event will feature technical sessions by scientists from leading agricultural institutions, success stories from farmers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh, and an exhibition showcasing sustainable farming practices.
The Cauvery Calling movement was launched by Sadhguru. For more updates, stay tuned to local news sources.
