The Chhattisgarh Karmachari-Adhikari Federation (CKAF) has formally submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the Chief Secretary, urging the implementation of a work-from-home system for state government employees. The federation has highlighted the escalating international fuel crisis and the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices as the primary motivations behind this demand.
Reasons Behind the Demand
In a letter addressed on Friday, CKAF state convenor Kamal Verma elaborated that the current global geopolitical scenario has created significant concerns regarding fuel availability. Verma pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized the importance of energy conservation and reducing unnecessary travel. The federation argues that since the state government has already adopted e-office and paperless systems, most administrative tasks can be efficiently completed online, making a work-from-home policy feasible.
Impact on Daily Commute
The memorandum specifically draws attention to the situation at the Mantralaya and various directorates located in Nava Raipur. A large number of officials and employees commute daily using private and government vehicles, contributing to high fuel consumption, traffic congestion, and pollution levels in the capital. The federation believes that implementing a work-from-home policy would lead to substantial fuel savings while simultaneously reducing traffic and pollution.
Proposed Implementation
The CKAF has requested the state administration to issue necessary directives to initiate the work-from-home system in phases or based on departmental requirements. The federation is optimistic that such a move will not only address the fuel crisis but also enhance employee productivity and work-life balance.
