Faridabad to Use Drones for Drain Cleaning and Monitoring

Faridabad is set to deploy drones for drain cleaning and monitoring ahead of the monsoon season, as Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh has ordered fast-track desilting of drains to prevent waterlogging in the city. The innovative use of drone technology aims to streamline the cleaning process and ensure timely identification of blockages.

Drones to Map and Monitor Drains

The drones will be used to create high-resolution maps of the drainage network, identify areas with silt accumulation, and monitor the progress of desilting operations. This will enable authorities to prioritize cleaning in vulnerable zones and respond quickly to any issues during the monsoon.

Fast-Track Desilting Ordered

Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh has directed the municipal corporation and other agencies to expedite desilting work across the district. He emphasized that all major drains and stormwater channels must be cleared before the onset of heavy rains to avoid flooding in low-lying areas.

The administration has also set up a control room to coordinate the cleaning efforts and track the drone data. Citizens have been urged not to dump garbage into drains, which is a major cause of blockages.

This initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize urban infrastructure in Faridabad and reduce the annual monsoon-related disruptions that have plagued the city.
