The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has successfully generated electronic khata (e-khata) documents for approximately 23 lakh properties within a span of just 10 months. This significant achievement marks a major step forward in the digitization of property records in the city.
Recognition and Awards
The initiative has received widespread appreciation from citizens for its efficiency and transparency. In recognition of the GBA's efforts, the Central Government has conferred the prestigious National e-governance award (Gold) upon the authority. Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar highlighted this accomplishment, noting that the award underscores the success of the e-khata project in streamlining property documentation.
Impact on Property Owners
The e-khata system eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices, reducing paperwork and processing time. Property owners can now access their documents online, ensuring greater convenience and security. The move is expected to curb fraudulent practices and enhance trust in the property registration system.
The GBA's achievement sets a benchmark for other municipalities across India, demonstrating the potential of digital governance in transforming public services. With over 23 lakh properties covered in less than a year, the authority plans to extend the e-khata facility to all remaining properties in the coming months.
