Greater Noida Authority to Launch Smart Paid Parking System to Curb Congestion
Greater Noida to Implement Smart Paid Parking System

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority is set to appoint an agency to implement a smart paid parking system across the township. Currently, multiple parking spaces in commercial areas, residential sectors, and markets suffer from haphazard vehicle parking, leading to weak monitoring, safety concerns, and encroachment. The new system aims to streamline operations and plug revenue losses.

Smart Parking Features

The proposed system will provide real-time information on available parking spaces, enable cashless payments, and improve vehicle safety and monitoring. An official stated, “The system will generate revenue while enhancing convenience for users.” Markets in the city, such as Jagat Farm and Alpha 1, experience heavy daily footfall and severe congestion due to unorganized parking. Jagat Farm, one of the oldest and busiest markets, is known for street food, clothing, electronics, and daily-use items. Alpha 1 is a hub for restaurants, grocery stores, salons, and retail shops. In Greater Noida West, Gaur City Mall and its surroundings have become a major shopping and entertainment destination with multiplexes, restaurants, and branded outlets.

Project Implementation

The Authority has invited expressions of interest (EOI) for the project, which includes designing, developing, operating, and maintaining parking facilities. Companies with at least three years of experience in similar services can participate, with a bidding deadline of May 28. The selected agency will conduct a survey of parking spaces across sectors, detailing total surface parking capacity for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Infrastructure such as barriers, sensors, CCTV cameras, smart signage, and automated pay-and-park kiosks will be installed.

Additionally, the agency will develop an app and web portal for real-time booking and digital payments. Manpower will be deployed for smooth operations and user charge collection. Revenue from the system will be shared with the Authority, and parking data will be integrated with the Authority’s integrated command and control centre for monitoring.

Growing Need for Organized Parking

Spanning nearly 380 square kilometers, Greater Noida comprises around 100 sectors and 120 villages. With commercial flight operations from Noida International Airport scheduled to begin on June 15, residential and commercial activities are expected to surge, making organized parking management crucial for the township’s development.
