Kolkata CAP Portal Launch Delayed Due to Technical Issues

The Centralised Admission Portal (CAP) for undergraduate admissions in Kolkata colleges faced an unexpected delay in its launch, which was originally scheduled for Monday evening. Despite the official announcement that the portal would become operational at that time, numerous students reported being unable to access the system when they attempted to submit their applications.

Presidency University Portal Also Delayed

Similarly, the undergraduate admission portal for Presidency University, which was also slated to open on Monday, did not go live. The university cited "technical problems" as the reason for the delay. Students are now advised that they can begin submitting applications from Tuesday evening onward, with the deadline extended until June 1.

Admission Tests for Select Subjects

For certain subjects, admission will be based solely on entrance tests. These subjects include Chemistry, Statistics, Life Sciences, Political Science, History, and Economics. The entrance examinations for these courses are scheduled to be conducted from June 12 to June 14.

Jadavpur University Schedule

Jadavpur University has announced that its undergraduate admission portal will become active on Wednesday. Registrar Selim Box Mandal confirmed, "Our admission portal for UG admissions shall go live by Wednesday evening." The university has also released the schedule for its entrance tests: science subjects will be tested between June 23 and June 25, while arts subjects will have their admission tests from June 25 to July 3.

Official Response to Technical Glitches

A spokesperson from the higher education department addressed the issues, stating, "The portal was tested many times, and technical errors, if any, were fixed. We are hopeful that students will not face any trouble while applying." However, students like Rupkatha, who passed her Higher Secondary exams and aims to study at Lady Brabourne College, reported repeated failures in submitting her application. Abhishikta Dan from Burdwan shared her frustration: "I still do not have access to the portal. It said it would open in the evening, but I couldn't access it even late at night."

Students are advised to keep checking the official portal for updates and to prepare their documents in advance to ensure a smooth application process once the system is fully operational.
