Nagpur University, MIDC Skill Centre Tie Up for Training

Nagpur University (NU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the MIDC Skill Development Centre to offer students practical industrial training alongside their academic degrees. The agreement was formalized at the university's Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar.

Key Features of the Collaboration

Under this agreement, students enrolled in professional courses can complete their compulsory internships at the MIDC Skill Development Centre, earning academic credits for technical training. University officials highlighted that this initiative will provide hands-on industrial exposure, thereby improving employability and practical skills.

Implementation Through DLLE

The programme will be implemented via the university's Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE). Students will have opportunities to participate in personality development, entrepreneurship, skill enhancement, and community-oriented programmes. Officials noted that the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between industry and education while nurturing leadership, communication skills, and social awareness among students.

Training Areas Offered

The MIDC Skill Development Centre, operated through EduSpark, provides practical training in several domains, including:

  • Logistics
  • CNC programming
  • Artificial Intelligence and Business Intelligence
  • Mobile device management
  • GST and Tally accounting
  • Refrigeration and air-conditioning assembly operations

Additionally, the centre offers soft skills and communication training to enhance overall student development.

Placement Assistance

According to officials, the centre's placement cell actively assists trained students in securing jobs in reputed industries located in industrial estates. Dr. Mankar expressed confidence that this collaboration will help Nagpur emerge as a hub of skilled manpower while opening new employment opportunities for university students.
