Pune Metro Ready to Roll: Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Line Set to Open 12 Stations Soon

Authorities have indicated that Metro services for the first phase of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar line could begin by June-end, provided all required safety approvals are secured after inspection and verification of readiness. This initial rollout will include 12 stations from Maan to Balewadi on the Hinjewadi side, a partial operational stretch expected to ease travel for commuters in these areas.

First Phase to Cover 12 Stations

The initial phase will cover 12 stations, connecting Maan to Balewadi. This partial opening is anticipated to benefit daily commuters, especially those working in IT hubs along this corridor. Trial runs across the entire Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar stretch have already been successfully completed, marking a key step toward operational readiness.

Remaining 11 Stations Under Construction

Work is still ongoing on the remaining 11 stations near Shivajinagar. Officials expect these stations to be completed by October, though some delays have been linked to technical issues in select areas. Specifically, technical delays in Baner and Shivajinagar have slowed down full corridor completion, with around four stations facing challenges.

Partial Launch to Aid Balewadi Commuters

The initial phase is expected to significantly aid commuters in areas like Balewadi. However, the full advantages of the Metro line will be realized only after the Shivajinagar stretch becomes operational. Commuters, including IT professionals, have expressed that while the partial opening is welcome, the complete benefit will come only when the full Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar corridor is operational.

Long Wait for Full Connectivity Continues

Despite the positive development, the long wait for full connectivity continues. The remaining stations are expected to be completed by October, but technical issues have caused delays. Authorities are working to resolve these issues to ensure the entire line becomes operational as soon as possible.
