UP Cabinet Approves DREAM Skill Labs in Govt Schools

The Uttar Pradesh state cabinet on Monday approved the establishment of DREAM (Design, Robotics, Electronics, Additive Manufacturing) Skill Labs in government schools across the state. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic curricula and industrial requirements by integrating cutting-edge technical knowledge and aligning it with current and future technological needs.

Partnership with Tata Enterprise

To implement this project, the state government has partnered with Nelco Network Products Ltd, a Tata enterprise. Under this collaboration, 150 DREAM Skill Labs will be set up, with two labs in each district. These labs are designed to equip students with practical skills and foster personality development, preparing them for the evolving demands of the technology and industrial sectors.

Objectives and Benefits

A government spokesperson stated that the labs will enable students to acquire skills that are directly relevant to industrial requirements. The high-quality education and training provided will enhance placement and employment opportunities for government school students in both government and private sector companies.

The DREAM Skill Labs focus on four key areas: design, robotics, electronics, and additive manufacturing. By exposing students to these fields, the initiative aims to create a skilled workforce that can contribute to the state's industrial growth and technological advancement.

This move is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's broader strategy to modernize education and improve employability among students. The labs are expected to be operational soon, with a curriculum developed in consultation with industry experts to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
