Hyundai Unveils 2026 Verna Facelift in India with Significant Upgrades

Hyundai Motor India has officially launched the new 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift in the Indian market, marking the first major update for the sedan since its initial debut in 2023. This refreshed model brings a host of cosmetic enhancements, new features, and improved safety elements, positioning it to compete strongly against rivals like the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. Customers can now book the sedan online or at authorized dealerships, with deliveries anticipated to commence shortly.

Price and Variant Revisions

The updated Verna is priced between Rs 10.98 lakh and Rs 18.25 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting a price adjustment from the previous model. The base variant sees an increase of Rs 18,000, while the top variant is now approximately Rs 1.1 lakh more expensive. Hyundai has also revamped the variant lineup, introducing new designations: HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6+, HX8, and HX10, replacing the earlier EX, S, SX, and SX(O) variants.

Design Enhancements

The 2026 Verna features subtle yet impactful styling updates while retaining its overall silhouette based on the K3 platform. At the front, it boasts a dark chrome grille and revised LED headlamps, complemented by a redesigned front bumper with more defined detailing. New 16-inch alloy wheels add to the aesthetic appeal. The rear maintains the connected tail-lamps and boot-mounted spoiler, but the bumper has been updated with silver trim and a diffuser element. Additionally, two new exterior colors, Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte, have been introduced to expand customer choices.

Interior and Feature Upgrades

Inside, the Verna continues with a dual-tone black-and-white interior for standard variants, while turbo-petrol models retain an all-black theme. The twin 10.25-inch displays are carried over, with the digital instrument cluster now featuring updated graphics. A new three-spoke steering wheel with Hyundai's Morse Code 'H' logo, similar to those in the Venue and Ioniq 5, enhances the cabin's modern feel.

Key new convenience features include:

  • A powered front passenger seat
  • Memory function for the driver's seat
  • Boss mode for the front passenger seat, allowing rear occupants to adjust the seat position

Safety has been significantly bolstered with the addition of a 360-degree camera and seven airbags on the top variant, a segment-first achievement. Other notable features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bose speakers, a surround-view camera, a Level-2 ADAS suite, ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, and a blind-spot monitor.

Engine Options

Mechanically, the 2026 Verna remains unchanged, offering two engine choices:

  1. A 115 hp, 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission.
  2. A 160 hp, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

These powertrains ensure a blend of performance and efficiency, catering to diverse driving preferences in the competitive sedan segment.
