Apple Unveils Second-Generation AirTag in India with Major Upgrades

Apple has officially launched the highly anticipated AirTag generation 2 in the Indian market, bringing significant enhancements to its popular item tracking device. The new iteration arrives with a longer Bluetooth range and a substantially louder speaker, addressing key user feedback from the previous model.

Advanced Chip Technology and Precision Finding

The latest AirTag is powered by Apple's second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the same advanced technology found in the iPhone 17 lineup, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 11. This chip upgrade enables enhanced Precision Finding capabilities, allowing users to locate misplaced items with greater accuracy than ever before.

Through a combination of haptic, visual, and audio feedback, Precision Finding now guides users to their lost belongings from up to 50 percent farther away compared to the first-generation AirTag. For the first time, this feature is also available on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, expanding the convenience of finding items directly from your wrist.

Key Feature Enhancements

The new AirTag boasts several notable improvements:

  • Upgraded Bluetooth Chip: Expands the range at which items can be located, making it easier to track belongings across larger distances.
  • Louder Speaker: The device is 50 percent louder than its predecessor, enabling users to hear their AirTag from up to twice as far away.
  • Share Item Location Integration: Seamlessly works with iOS's Share Item Location feature, allowing temporary and secure sharing of an item's location with trusted third parties like airlines to assist in recovering delayed luggage or other lost items.

These enhancements make the AirTag particularly effective for finding commonly misplaced items such as keys buried deep in couch cushions or wallets as you're heading out the door.

Privacy and Compatibility

Designed exclusively for tracking objects, the AirTag includes protections against unwanted tracking to ensure user privacy. The device requires a compatible iPhone with iOS 26 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 26 or later. Users must have an Apple Account and be signed into their iCloud account, with certain features requiring Find My to be enabled in iCloud settings.

Pricing, Availability, and Accessories

The new AirTag is available for order immediately through apple.com and the Apple Store app, with availability at physical Apple Store locations beginning later this week. The device will also be sold through Apple Authorised Resellers across India.

Pricing details:

  1. Single AirTag: Rs 3,790
  2. Four-pack: Rs 12,900

Customers can add free personalized engraving during checkout on apple.com and the Apple Store app. Additionally, Apple offers the AirTag FineWoven Key Ring in five colors—fox orange, midnight purple, navy, moss, and black—priced at Rs 3,900.

The launch of AirTag generation 2 represents Apple's continued commitment to refining its ecosystem of tracking devices, providing Indian consumers with more powerful tools to keep track of their valuable possessions through enhanced technology and user-friendly features.
