Apple Unveils MacBook Neo: Most Affordable Laptop with iPhone 16 Pro Chip

Apple has officially announced the MacBook Neo, marking its most affordable laptop entry to date with a starting price of Rs 69,900 in India. This new model aims to bring premium Apple features to a broader audience without compromising on performance or design.

Powerful Performance with A18 Pro Chip

The MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip, the same advanced silicon found in the iPhone 16 Pro. This integration delivers exceptional processing power for the price bracket. Apple claims the Neo is up to 50% faster for everyday tasks compared to a comparable Intel Core Ultra 5 Windows laptop and up to 3x faster for on-device AI workloads.

The 16-core Neural Engine handles Apple Intelligence features locally, ensuring privacy and efficiency. Additionally, the 5-core GPU provides enough capability for casual gaming and photo editing, while the fanless design ensures completely silent operation.

Premium Design and Display Features

Featuring a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with 500 nits brightness and support for 1 billion colors, the MacBook Neo offers vibrant visuals. It comes in four stylish colors: blush, indigo, silver, and a new citrus option.

Weighing just 1.23 kg, the laptop is lighter than it sounds, with an aluminum build that maintains a premium feel despite the lower price. The hardware is rounded out with two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, a headphone jack, a 1080p FaceTime camera, and dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio.

Software and Ecosystem Integration

MacBook Neo ships with macOS Tahoe, providing users immediate access to Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Live Translation. iPhone Mirroring is also supported, allowing seamless interaction with iPhones directly from the MacBook screen, enhancing the experience for those already invested in the Apple ecosystem.

Impressive Battery Life and Sustainability

Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours, making it suitable for extended use. On the sustainability front, Apple highlights that the MacBook Neo is its lowest-carbon Mac yet, constructed with 60% recycled content, including 90% recycled aluminum.

Availability and Pre-orders

Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo open today, with availability starting March 11. This launch represents Apple's strategic move to capture the budget-conscious market while leveraging its technological advancements from the iPhone lineup.
