Dubai to Launch Uber Air Taxis: Electric Flights on App This Year
Residents of Dubai could soon find air taxis listed alongside conventional cars on the Uber application, as the city prepares to roll out all-electric aerial rides later this year. This innovative move would enable passengers to book a flight as effortlessly as ordering a standard ride, marking a significant shift towards integrated ground and air transport within a single, unified platform.
Seamless Booking Through Uber Air
The new feature, branded as Uber Air, will appear directly within the existing Uber app interface. Users will simply enter their destination as they normally would. If the journey qualifies for an aerial option, the application will display an air taxi choice alongside regular transport services like cars or scooters.
Once selected, the system will manage the entire journey through one comprehensive booking. This includes a premium car transfer to the designated take-off point, the flight itself, and onward ground transport to the final destination, ensuring a door-to-door experience.
Advanced Electric Aircraft Design
The aircraft is fully electric and engineered to accommodate up to four passengers comfortably. Each flight will be operated by a certified commercial pilot, prioritizing safety and professionalism. Inside, the cabin is configured with ergonomic seating and expansive windows, offering panoramic views of Dubai's iconic skyline from every seat.
From a technical perspective, the vehicle relies on six tilting propellers. These enable vertical take-off and landing capabilities before smoothly transitioning into forward flight. The air taxi can achieve speeds of up to 200 miles per hour and is capable of travelling distances of up to 100 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for urban and regional trips.

Engineers have meticulously tailored the aircraft for dense urban settings. It incorporates multiple layers of system redundancy to strengthen safety measures and ensure reliability. Its acoustic design has also been developed to blend with typical city background noise rather than standing out sharply, minimizing disruption to the urban soundscape.
