Google Pixel Buds 2a Review: A Well-Rounded Audio Experience

Google has unveiled its latest audio offering, the Pixel Buds 2a, bringing significant upgrades to its A-series lineup. Launched on 10 November 2025, these true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds mark a first for the series with the introduction of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

Key Features and Performance

The Google Pixel Buds 2a are designed to deliver a reliable and immersive audio experience. A major highlight is the new Active Noise Cancellation, powered by Google's Silent Seal 1.5 technology. This feature effectively blocks ambient noise, allowing users to focus on their music or calls.

Under the hood, the earbuds are driven by Google's proprietary Tensor A1 chipset and custom-designed 11 mm dynamic speaker drivers. This combination ensures crisp, clear audio output and stable performance. The battery life is impressive, offering up to 20 hours of playback with ANC enabled and extending to 27 hours when ANC is turned off.

Design, Durability, and Specifications

The Pixel Buds 2a feature a compact in-ear design with a stabilising wing for a secure and comfortable fit. Each earbud is lightweight, weighing just 4.7 grams, while the charging case weighs 47.6 grams.

Google has also incorporated eco-friendly elements, with 41 per cent of the device's components made from recycled materials. For durability, the earbuds have an IP54 rating for resistance against dust and water, and the charging case is rated IPX4 for protection from water splashes.

The earbuds support both iOS and Android devices (OS 6.0 or newer) via Bluetooth. While they do not support wireless charging, they make up for it with fast charging capabilities.

Verdict: A Strong Contender in the TWS Market

The Google Pixel Buds 2a present a compelling package with their reliable performance, excellent battery life, and the welcome addition of ANC. The lack of wireless charging might be a minor drawback for some, but it is not a deal-breaker given the overall value and features offered. For those seeking well-rounded TWS earbuds with solid audio quality and noise cancellation, the Pixel Buds 2a are a strong contender worth considering.
