HP Reveals AI PCs, Quantum Printers & Security at Imagine 2026

HP Showcases Comprehensive Tech Innovations at Imagine 2026 Event

At its annual HP Imagine 2026 conference, HP Inc. has introduced a sweeping array of new products and software solutions aimed at tackling persistent inefficiencies and security threats in contemporary work environments. The unveiling includes advanced laptops, printers, AI-driven software, and cutting-edge security features designed to enhance productivity and protection across hybrid workplaces.

HP IQ: A New On-Device Intelligence Layer

The highlight of the announcements is HP IQ, an innovative on-device intelligence layer that orchestrates tasks across HP AI PCs, workplace devices, and meeting spaces using local AI and proximity-based connectivity. Unlike cloud-reliant alternatives, HP IQ operates locally, offering significant advantages for enterprises with stringent data security needs.

This intelligence layer will debut on the next-generation HP EliteBook X G2 AI PCs, with initial features targeting common pain points for knowledge workers:

  • Ask IQ: Responds to text and voice inputs, providing contextual answers and guidance without requiring users to switch between applications.
  • Notes & Knowledge: Maintains a continuous record of interactions, organizing notes for easy search and sharing.
  • Meeting Agent: Captures ideas and records notes during meetings, allowing participants to stay engaged in conversations without distraction.

HP IQ can be configured and deployed via the HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) or standard enterprise management tools like Microsoft Intune.

HP NearSense: Enabling Seamless Device Collaboration

HP also launched HP NearSense, a spatial intelligence feature that enables nearby HP devices to automatically discover, connect, and collaborate. This technology facilitates what HP describes as the easiest and most secure PC-to-PC file sharing solution available, allowing users to drag and drop documents, images, and presentations to a colleague's device instantly—without cables, cloud uploads, or manual pairing.

HP plans to extend NearSense capabilities across its broader ecosystem over time, including HP Poly video conferencing solutions, printers, desktops, workstations, and peripherals.

EliteBook 6 G2q: Flagship AI PC for Advanced Workflows

For professionals requiring substantial AI computing power in a portable form, HP unveiled the EliteBook 6 G2q, positioned as its flagship device for advanced and agentic AI workflows. Powered by Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Plus processors, it delivers up to 85 TOPS of NPU performance.

HP is collaborating with over 100 independent software vendor partners, including Rakuten, Goodnotes, and Guidde, to optimize applications for the device's local AI capabilities. The chassis is up to 15% thinner than the previous generation, featuring a Glacier Silver finish and physical intrusion detection that powers down the device and protects memory if opened.

HP TPM Guard: Hardware Defense Against BitLocker Bypass

In a significant security advancement, HP introduced HP TPM Guard, claimed as the world's first hardware solution capable of stopping physical TPM bus attacks. These attacks can bypass BitLocker drive encryption by intercepting communication between the Trusted Platform Module and the CPU.

HP TPM Guard establishes an encrypted link between the TPM and CPU, cryptographically binding the TPM to the specific device. HP also announced expanded HP Wolf Security capabilities, enhancing integration between its Workforce Experience Platform, Wolf Security, and enterprise architecture to reduce operational overhead and cyber risk.

Printers with Quantum-Resistant Security

HP's printer announcements at Imagine 2026 address the need for accelerated document digitization in hybrid work environments and the emerging threat quantum computing poses to traditional encryption methods.

The HP LaserJet Pro 4000/4100 Series, targeted at small and growing businesses, is notable as the world's first SMB printer with quantum-resistant security. It offers up to 25% lower print costs through TerraJet Toner technology and comes with a three-year warranty.

For larger enterprises, the HP LaserJet Enterprise 5000/6000 Series combines high-speed printing and scanning with AI-powered features like Scan AI Enhanced and Editable OCR, which HP says can reduce manual document processing time by up to 50%.

HP Z Workstations for Demanding AI Workloads

For professionals at the forefront of AI development, visual effects, and simulation, HP announced the next generation of HP Z Workstations. The flagship HP Z8 Fury supports up to four NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q GPUs alongside next-generation Intel workstation processors.

Complementing this is the HP Max Side Panel, an industry-first chassis expander that increases internal volume by 15%, allowing users to install larger graphics cards tool-free while maintaining thermal performance. It is available for both the Z8 Fury and the Z4 workstation. HP also updated its mobile workstation lineup with the HP ZBook X G2i, ZBook 8 G2i, and ZBook 8 G2a.

Enhanced Workforce Experience Platform and Gaming Innovations

HP's Workforce Experience Platform (WXP) received a significant update, adding capabilities to shift enterprise IT from reactive troubleshooting to proactive, AI-driven operations. HP expanded its construction industry ecosystem, connecting HP DesignJet multifunction printers, HP Build Workspace, and HP Z Workstations to bridge digital design and on-site execution.

In gaming, HyperX OMEN introduced the flagship HyperX OMEN MAX 45L desktop, featuring up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 270K Plus and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, paired with second-generation Cryo Chamber cooling and modular expandability. The HyperX OMEN 35L offers a more accessible but highly customizable high-performance alternative.

"We're demonstrating how these solutions work together, securely and seamlessly, so our customers can do their best work wherever work happens," said Bruce Broussard, Interim CEO of HP Inc., emphasizing the integrated approach of the new offerings.
