In a bold move that reimagines desktop computing, HP has launched a complete artificial intelligence-powered personal computer cleverly concealed within a keyboard. The company unveiled the HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas, earning an Innovation Award for its groundbreaking design.
Redefining the Modern Workspace
HP's vision with the EliteBoard G1a is to untether work from traditional desks. According to Guayente Sanmartin, senior vice president and division president for Commercial Systems and Displays Solutions at HP, employees are fundamentally rethinking their work environments. The tools they use must evolve accordingly. This device is HP's answer, designed to reduce complexity by turning AI advancements into tangible, practical benefits for professionals.
The core idea is portability and minimalism. Built into an ultra-compact chassis just 12 mm thick, the EliteBoard integrates computing, audio, and connectivity into one unit. Weighing approximately 750 grams, it is significantly lighter than a standard laptop. Users can pair it with virtually any display, enabling a clean, minimalist setup that can move with them between offices, shared desks, or hybrid work settings.
Powerful AI in a Tiny Package
Despite its small size, the EliteBoard G1a is engineered for demanding tasks. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processor. Crucially, it includes a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of performing over 50 trillion operations per second for AI workloads. This allows for powerful local AI processing without relying on cloud servers, enhancing speed and privacy.
Security remains a top priority. The device includes a lockable tether for physical security and is equipped with HP Wolf Security for Business. This provides hardware-enforced protection for sensitive data and AI operations, a critical feature for corporate users.
A Companion Professional Monitor
Alongside the AI PC keyboard, HP introduced the HP Series 7 Pro 4K Monitor, aimed at professionals needing high visual fidelity. The monitor leverages advanced IPS Black and Neo: LED technologies to deliver high contrast and factory-calibrated colour accuracy. It supports custom colour profiles for specialised work.
For connectivity, it features Thunderbolt 4, which can deliver up to 140W of power and high-speed data through a single cable. This simplifies setups and supports flexible, multi-device workflows, making it an ideal partner for the portable EliteBoard.
Both the HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC and the HP Series 7 Pro 4K Monitor are scheduled to be available for purchase on HP's official website starting March 2026. The company will announce detailed pricing information closer to the launch date.
